Merry Christmas dear friends and family, Dec 2008
This will be our second Christmas in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The heartaches of war have hit closer to home as neighbors and friends in this area have lost loved ones. We pray for our troops and the freedom they defend as they serve near and far. 2008 has been a busy year, and we are grateful for the chance to catch up with family and friends this holiday.
Dave continues to work in the Operating Room at the US Army hospital on post. He mostly does administrative work and we’re waiting for the day that he gets paid for it. Dave’s days start early and go long. He now serves as Elder’s Quorum President at church. Our little branch that once consisted only of members on post, is now combined with a neighboring ward so it is very big. With many men deployed, Dave has a big responsibility to see that families are taken care of while the husbands/fathers are away.
Clair has been busy with all things home and photography which has now become a little business. The CG Dickson Photography website will be up and running very soon. Until then you can see her latest work at www.cgdphotos.blogspot.com. And that’s just the tip of the blog-berg. You can find more than you ever wanted to know by visiting her personal blog at www.clairsfairytale.blogspot.com, and she’d love to keep up with you too. At church Clair helps in the nursery once a month. Laundry continues to be a challenge, there is usually a sticky spot on the kitchen floor, and the handprints along the staircase aren't going anywhere. So life goes on as normal.
Livvy is a tweeny 4th grader this year. At 9, she keeps busy with friends, art, and her littlest pet shop collection. As each weekend approaches she wants to make arrangements for a sleepover of some sort. She enjoys Activity Girls at church, continues her piano lessons, and makes sure that everyone has seen her baby brother and knows of his latest accomplishments.
Paul is a quirky 2nd grader who is just one month from turning the big 8. Every few days he brings home a special note from school telling of his latest struggle to get to work or some other minor misdemeanor. He and Olivia both enjoyed fall soccer this year. Paul is taking on a new challenge and just started piano lessons. As for his favorite hobby, computer games, he has mastered all the islands of Poptropica and is eagerly awaiting the creation of a new one.
Faith, 4 ½, is eager to please. When she's not busy with morning pre-school, she's a big help to Mom at home. You rarely see her without markers and paper. She loves to draw and is learning her letters now. She loves to be with other children and is constantly asking if she can invite neighbors over to jump on the trampoline. Her latest phrase is "right, Mom?"
Seth will be 8 months by Christmas and is just a roly-poly bundle of joy whose laugh lights up our home. We all adore this sweet little boy who is such an easy going baby and a treasured blessing to our family.
With love,
The Dickson Family
