Trying to be Like Jesus

Looking at the latest pictures of Paul, I cannot believe how grown up he is getting. Where is my little boy?

Valentine's Day was extra special because Paul took an important step in following the example of Jesus by being baptized that day. When Paul had his interview with the bishop a couple of weeks before, he was asked why he wanted to be baptized and apparently answered, "I don't know." Paul is a deep thinker and not one to give an expected answer or to say the right thing just to say the right thing. So, the bishop asked Paul to think on it some more and report later. When asked the question again, Paul said that he wanted to be baptized because his heart told him he should.

The baptism was very nice and we were thankful to have Grandma and Grandpa Griner and Poppy there. We know Grandma Dickson was in Idaho but in spirit with us. We were also glad to share the day with our friends the Prikos, the Feasters and the Thorleys. Elder Jeppesen, a senior missionary and member of the Bishpric conducted the meeting. Poppy and Olivia gave the talks. Mom and I did the music. Faith and Grandpa G gave the prayers. And Dave performed the baptism and confirmation.



(Not to distract from the nature of the post, but let me mention that I too take bad photos. The above photos are only usable because of photoshop and even then... well...)

Poppy gave Paul his own scriptures and he has been very proud and possessive of them. We need to order a scripture case, but Paul found a solution for Sunday. He used the Fisher Price doctor kit bag. Olivia suggested he turn it inside out to hide the logo, but Paul didn't bat an eye and proudly toted his scriptures to church.

Dave and I are proud of Paul. He is a fine boy with a keen mind and a loving heart. We are grateful to be Paul's parents and have the honor of watching him grow in the gospel.
