So Long to a Short Summer

The kids start school in just a couple of days! School seems to start earlier every year, I guess. Though we certainly spent too much time in the hospital this summer with Paul's broken arm and knee gash and Clair's gallbladder issues, we did manage to enjoy some typical, and not so typical, summer moments. Here's a smattering of what we did this summer.

Olivia shows her enthusiasm when we arrive at the fair that came to town and the kids, big and small, enjoyed a few rides.






We enjoyed Space Adventures- the summer reading program. We went to the library weekly where the big kids enjoyed presentations such as magic shows, Australian animals, electronic music and such. During this time, Faith, Seth and Mommy went to a version for younger kids where we read stories, sang songs and did finger plays.



During one library excursion, a pajama night, Daddy taught Paul and Livvy how to play chess. Paul has requested to play often and even tried to teach Mommy how to play.



Our family took a few trips to the swimming pool where Seth experienced his first dip.







All heck broke loose everytime the chimes of the Ice Cream Truck sounded through the neighborhood. There was excessive begging and mad dashes to find some cash. Luckily, the Ice Cream Man didn't come by too often.




One special treat was getting to go to a sweet girl's baptism. It was unique because it was done in a creek. Her mom and dad are great friends of ours. We met in Missouri and are so glad to have them here now. After the baptism, the kids couldn't resist wading into the creek.







And of course there was plenty of playing with friends at the park in the backyard and jumping on the trampoline.





And when we finally got Paul all patched up, he and Olivia were able to take swimming lessons.




So long to a short summer...
