Doggone Good (Mostly)

Just a note to say that we all agree that we have indeed gotten the perfect family dog. There is something about his breed (Boston Terrier/ Bulldog) and his spirit that makes him a wonderful fit. Dozer, who joined our family in July, has made is way into our hearts and under our covers.

Whenever we are all gathered around, such as during family scripture reading or dinnertime, you can expect that Dozer will be there too. He doesn't want to miss out on any family togherness. A hug between two members can quickly become a group hug... or huddle... or something like that. As one might guess, he hopes to get more than love during mealtime when he stragetically plants himself at Seth's feet.

The most curious thing about Dozer is that he loves to be under a blanket and is quite good at covering himself up. I must say that the one place I'd rather him NOT be is on my bed, but since I am growing more soft hearted with age, I am not making a huge fuss over it and only order Dozer out of my room 50 percent of the time.

Though we don't take him places very often, Dozer does love riding in the car and jumps inside any chance he gets. Maybe he remember that sweet car ride home when we first got him. :) Or maybe he just needs to get our more-- he has jumped into at least two different visitors' cars.

There is one teesy little problem that we are working on. Dozer chews up our stuff- mostly it has been toys. Faith now has a baby doll with a bandage in place of a hand and a Barbie who could use one too. My beloved Raggedy Ann doll needs some reconstructive surgery on her face. And there are certainly several other things that have just had to go bye bye- namely pens, a toy horse, and a dream catcher. Sigh... We have learned to both pick up our stuff better (thank you Dozer for reinforcing that need) and to close our bedroom doors during the day.

Best of all, though, is that my husband and my kids have a dog to call their own. The loyal companion they have longed for is now a reality. Welcome, Dozer. You are here to stay!
