Summer Vacation, Part 2

We cruised on up to Burley, Idaho in our rented Town and Country minivan. In Burley we got to spend time with Poppy and Grandma Dickson and Great Grandma Drussel and more.




Unfortunately, Uncle Tom (Great Grandma Drussel's sister's husband) had just passed away. His funeral was being held during our visit. Also unfortunately, Dave threw his back out a couple of hours before the funeral and wasn't able to attend. Fortunately, many relatives were kind enough to swing by and say hello to Dave after saying goodbye to Uncle Tom. Also fortunately, after a blessing, Dave's back healed quickly and didn't alter our plans further. (How did Dave throw his back out? Anyone who has ever watched Dave push a merry-go-round knows that he cannot do so in moderation.)

Cousin Lily came to stay with Poppy and Grandma and joined us for all of our gallivanting which included a drive out to Almo where we saw a one roomed cabin that Great Grandma had lived in when she was little, some unique structures at the City of Rocks, a cemetery when many Durfee predecessors including pioneers were laid to rest, dandelions the size of basketballs (ok... softballs,) and a surprising field of Elk.





No pictures were taken when Dave and Cousin Will took the big kids out for an introduction to shooting using a special rifle that hand been handed down from Dave's grandpa. I stayed behind as it was certain that if we were lucky enough to have no mishpas, at the very least my nerves would have been shot. And I easily forgave Dave for not taking pictures as he explained he had to forgo the camera and put safety first.

The deflating air mattresses and cramped quarters can be forgotten, but multiple visits to Storybook park will remain a fond memory.















Parting was such sweet sorrow and found Faithy in tears. She was very sad to leave Grandma's dog Petey who Seth also took a liking to. (I knew then that the dog we would adopt a couple of weeks later was going to be well loved.)








And Seth took with him a kiss from Great Grandma. :)
